Survey Review & Oversight Committee
In recent years, technology has made it easier to distribute surveys, but response rates have declined. Our campus community experiences “survey fatigue” from the growing frequency of surveys on campus. In response, ECU implemented a survey regulation in October 2011 that established a review process for surveys of faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This regulation was revised in July 2013.
The Survey Review and Oversight Committee (SROC) was formed as a result of this regulation to schedule surveys with less overlap, avoid duplication of data collection efforts, and to help researchers improve the quality of surveys. Researchers may electronically submit requests to conduct surveys using the online portal. Requests that require committee approval are reviewed at the monthly SROC meetings.
The Survey Review and Oversight Committee holds regular meetings on the first and third Monday of each month.
