IPEDS Data Center

IPEDS (Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System) is the core postsecondary education data collection program for the National Center for Education Statistics (U.S. Department of Education). Data are collected from all primary providers of postsecondary education in the country in areas including enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty, staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. These data are made available on the IPEDS website to students, researchers and others. Click here to access a tutorial on using the IPEDS Data Center.

University of North Carolina System Academic Program Inventory

The UNC Academic Program Inventory provides a listing of academic programs for each school in the UNC system.  The listing includes the following components:  discipline division, CIP Code, CIP Discipline, Degree Abbreviation, and Degree Program Title.

University of North Carolina System Data Dashboard

The UNC Data Dashboard is an interactive, online database that gives students, parents, policymakers, and taxpayers expanded access to detailed system data on selected core measures. These measures include enrollment (trends within the system, who students are and where they come from); student success (four, five, and six year graduation rates); transfer student enrollment and performance; and degrees awarded by level, field of study, and student demographics.

National Student Clearinghouse Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Data Lab

The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) collects data on student enrollment, academic progress, and educational outcomes from more than 3,600 colleges and universities, accounting for 97% of higher education enrollments in the United States. They also receive data from over 22,000 high schools, enabling them to show if and where graduates go to college and how they do once they get there. The NSC DEI Data Lab gives institutions the ability to filter and analyze results by race and ethnicity, gender, age, Pell Grant status, and more, enabling insights into intersectional experiences in education.

MAPS Institutional Equity Outcomes Dashboard

Created by the Sorenson Impact Center (in the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah), this dashboard uses IPEDS data to provide insight into disaggregated student outcomes and institutional practices that may generate greater equity. Despite the fact that few disaggregated student data points exist in IPEDS data, this tool displays any currently available IPEDS data that may help measure equity indicators and student outcomes at colleges and universities. This work is part of the MAPS (Model, Analyze, Prototype, and Share) Project intended to provide innovative data and solutions to challenges in higher education.
