Quality Enhancement Plan Overview

What is a Quality Enhancement Plan?

In short, a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) (PDF) is a plan to implement and assess a focused set of initiatives designed to improve student learning or student success across the university. ECU must develop a QEP as part of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Reaffirmation of Accreditation requirements.

Why does ECU need a QEP?

While a QEP is a required element of institutional accreditation, it is more than a way for SACSCOC to check up on the university. The QEP is an opportunity to strengthen the educational experiences of ECU students. For more QEP information, please visit the SACSCOC website.

What was ECU’s previous QEP?

ECU’s previous QEP (2013 – 2018), Write Where You Belong, was a multi-faceted project to integrate, align, and reinforce writing instruction for students from the first day of classes to degree completion and transition into the workplace or advanced study. The university is now in the process of identifying the next QEP topic which will begin implementation in 2023.
