Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE)
The Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) is one of a family of surveys measuring how active or engaged students are in academic and non-academic aspects of their college experience. Research has suggested that engagement is one of the important influences on how well students perform and persist.
The BCSSE is given to incoming students just before their first college term to help assess their expectations about college as well as relevant experience in high school. The survey is administered on a three-year cycle in conjunction with the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
